Sorry that we did not get scores out last night. Basically we were having too much fun to do it. We were in the hangar flying until after 10:00. After that we had some late night repairs to make, and Rob had to make major modifications to his limited catapult glider. More on that later. We also spent some time checking out some home videos of the 1990 and 1991 indoor Nats with some familiar names but less familiar physiques.
This morning we are trying to make our way out to the local EAA chapter pancake breakfast (EAA chapters love to have pancake breakfasts) and then head to the hangar to help some kids fly their Guillows gliders in the hangar. Currently Rob’s snoring is still resonating from down the hall. The main glider expert will be Glider Guru John Kagan. Wait…WHAT?!?! Yes, glider guru John Kagan.
Last night we were all in the 38-39 second range when John finally topped 40 with a pair of 43’s!!! Rob and I were completely shocked. He’s an F1D guy! Later John put up a flight for me to video and thanks to my great efforts to get out of the way (I.E. none) the glider hit my leg at 47 seconds. I will get the video posted later.
Update this morning from John; Rob’s snoring has been measured at 74 decibels from ten feet away thanks to an app on his phone. Also we are running late, no pancake breakfast.
For now Brett Sanborn is leading LPP with an 8:59 followed by Richmond and Kagan. Kagan put up a 22 minute F1D flight to take an early lead and Leo Pilachowski had some great first flights on his F1L and got in some first time steering practice.
Here we see John trying to impress one of the local chicks with his new found glider fame. He is showing her the glider and the stopwatch with the record holding 47 second flight displayed. More updates as the day goes on.
